Wearing a purple, sleeveless jumper with tight, short-length skirt, pink strapless bra, brown nylon stockings, pink thong underpants, and one silver/red high-heeled shoe (accompanying shoe lies beside the body).  Body was discovered lying in prone position near the garbage bin, hands bound at the wrist with black cord, and a white cloth affixed as a gag around the mouth. Minor facial swelling with florid features, eyes nearly closed with petechiae visible in the conjunctivae, tongue is clenched between teeth and extends appprox 1cm past lips, blood-flecked saliva is present inside mouth and on lips. A 3cm-wide ligature impression is visible at the throat, fully enclosing the neck anteriorally while remaining open towards posterior position. Deceased's underpants, stockings, and skirt are noted to be saturated with urine. This, combined with other outstanding features, leads to an initial determination of death due to strangulation by mechanical asphyxia.

Other physical evidence at the scene includes a black handbag containing identification, cosmetics, and a 'Wyatt Tomorrow Entertainment, ltd" file number. Visual match on the identification card is  made with the first victim. The ground beneath the first body still contains covering of dust, barely disturbed. Lack of struggle immediately surrounding the body indicates that the first victim was likely killed elsewhere and placed at location post-mortem.  The ground surrounding the second victim is heavily disturbed with fresh urine pooling both beneath and around the body, indicating that second victim was likely murdered in that location and struggled heavily during the ordeal. Both victims were fully clothed, but florescent testing via blacklight indicated the presence of trace amounts of semen and saliva on the skirt and stockings of the second victim. Later DNA testing would reveal the saliva and semen to be from the same source. On-site inspection of footprints found evidence of the second victim's high-heeled shoes and three unidentified shoe prints.

In response to the collision, both Lei and Anesa exited their respective vehicles to survey the damage. At this point, the other men rapidly exited the van and, along with Lei, produced knives in order to intimidate and control the two women. The women were forced into the van and bound with plastic wire.  Lei followed in the BMW while the other two drove the van and looted the women's purses. They discovered two mobile phones, 4000 in cash, as well as Anesa's bank card. Shen and Mo used the knife to threaten Anesa until she provided them with the passcode to the bank card. They then gave the card to Lei, who used the BMW to go to the ATM and withdraw cash from the account.

The three then engaged in a lengthy discussion and mutually decided to murder both victims to eliminate witnesses to their crime. The men moved both girls from the van into the luxury sedan. Lei kept Bettina contained in the passenger seat with the knife, while Shen and Mo pushed Anesa into the back seat. Shen held her in a tight grip while Mo wrapped a length of wire around her neck and began to strangle her, using both hands to pull either end of the cord. While they were absent, Shen once again committed indecent actions with the corpse, leaving traces of both saliva and semen on her clothing.
